I've just wanted to do a thing at 'Weights' that it would be useful in my books, but it seems the editor doesn't support it to the best of my knowledge (which isn't much).
If you take a look at this...:

...you'll see that I have selected all the vertices on the pinky finger and also its two bones on the right.
What I'd see as desirable is that if I press 'Auto' at that moment, the editor computes those vertices' weights only, distributing its values among the selected bones only, instead of recomputing all the weights for all the bones in the mesh.
I know this is a weird example as this mesh could have had a different image for each finger. But consider a hair mesh instead with multiple strands like the one on this thread: Feature request (if not already implemented)
I also know that I could simply select the other bones I don't want to have any influence and drag them all the way down to zero (which is in fact what I'm doing)... but that strikes me as a little inaccurate (?).
So, would it be too bitchy on my part to request that little feature for a future release? :p
