  • Proper use of skins?

We have a main character who will have many different armor sets. Changing these out via mapped slots would be possible if we defined every armor set to every single slot and what image is required in each one when the player "equips" the item in game, but would the more ideal way be to use skins and change the entire skin to "Armor set 1/2/3/4" etc instead?

I'm unsure of any issues this might cause or anything I'm missing, because we also change the weapon under the weapon slot at runtime which isn't tied to any skin. We also have male and female and I figured it would be easier to deal with that as a per slot swap out of hair and face since we can't mix and match skins that I know of.
