Spine not sourcing all folders?
I don't know what to do here.... Spine is suddenly skipping the last 3 folders in the source folder I'm using... I definitely have the same folder open here in both explorer and Spine, but as you can see, the last three folders: "start", "tournaments" and "ui" are all missing from the Spine image source list.... this is really bad for me! Help!
Whaaat? So apparently altering the name of a missing folder so it starts with an "a" made it show up in the list??? But if I change it back, it disappears again! What in the world is going on... Been getting a lot of strange bugs since the launcher was updated, but this is really interrupting work flow.
Sorry for the delayed response!
How many images do you have in your images folder and all subfolders? Spine has some limits since system resources are limited. Consider what would happen if you put /
as the images path
it would try to scan your entire disk! Spine finds up to 10,000 images, looks up to 16 folders deep, and will watch up to 50 folders.
Spine only shows folders that have images. If you are actually hitting the limits, we could show all folders so you can still get to your files. Before doing this though, I'd like to make sure we know why your images don't appear.
As a workaround, you can drag any image and then rename it to the path you want.
Hi Nate,
Sorry for the late reply. When this issue came up I had to do a work around right away by just sourcing only the subfolder and duplicating assets with different names so I forgot about it until now. The problem came up again when I needed to do a skin for that animation that would have sourced from another separate folder inside the art assets. Basically I'm pretty sure we reached the 10,000 image limit and/or the folder limit, since the game is a saga game and so it's big and has very many assets that are sorted into strict subfolders to allow for dynamic downloading. So, for me, it would be nice to have it so that all the folders show, if that's possible
In 3.5.02-beta we've improved file watching on Windows and added a checkbox to remove the limits on scanning for image files.
Hi Nate,
We have 400 files in the project and wide folders structure.
But it seems that "Limit Scanning" check box doesn't take any effect for us.
We still have to manually refresh images by clicking "Refresh" button. Without this button attachment won't be refreshed.
What limits does Spine really have with/without "Limit Scanning" checked?
Spine version is 3.5.26
Limit scanning stops at 10,000 files, 128 directories total, and 16 directories deep.
What exactly are you seeing? Are you adding a file, modifying a file, or deleting a file? What OS?
We mostly modify files.
Since we use Photoshop Asset Generator multiple files may be modified at once.
We don't see any changes in Spine until Refresh button is clicked.

We've thoroughly tested on Windows 10 and haven't seen a case where it doesn't reload the files automatically. Do you know what version it began doing this?
Actually this bug has always been here, but in versions < 3.5 it had reproduced not often.
I will try to create sample project to reproduce the problem and send it to you asap.
I've updated from 3.5.26 to 3.5.27 version and the bug has gone. It's really strange.
I will notify you if the problem is reproduced again.
Great! 3.5.27 fixed an issue on Mac where it wasn't refreshing images. I didn't expect it to help here, but it's possible that it did.
