  • [Video] Steps of learning animation in Spine

Hey! 🙂

I am a student that this semester going to learn animation, and our class are using Spine as software.
Therefore, I decided to livestream the process of learning animation each week I have school (at least). And then during the following week publish it on my YouTube channel.

I have just started this learning curve, with a session with no knowledge about this software or animation! (This showing how self-explaining Spine is). And hopefully during this series, over the next half year :time: , I will get better at animation and using Spine.

If anyone of you would like to follow this series or take a look from time to time, I would love feedback, and ideas! 😃

With nothing future to do, here is the link to the first video and playlist:

Ok. A word of advice.
Keep a conscious separation between the craft and the tools.
Like many forms of art, good animation requires a lot of building your sense with abstract study and building up your taste by looking at good work.
Tools like Spine are just tools. And mediums like computers and videogames are just mediums. And learning animation is more than understanding the medium and the tools inside and out.
And just like there are no pure perfect circles and cubes in the real world, you can never really separate the craft from the tools. But you should know that what the tools explicitly give you isn't all there is to it.

Good luck on your learning! I look forward to watching your videos. Make sure you add jokes in there. 😃
I expect some of parts of Spine will be counter-intuitive to beginners so your fresh eyes may be very helpful in spotting them.
Some of these points may not be changed because some of the ways things are done in Spine are essential to reflecting and clearly communicating how game engines need to handle the things you animate. But at the very least, we can communicate them better to beginners.
