License question for university project

Hi, me and my friend want to start working on BSc Thesis, and I want to use Unity and Spine in it. My friend does not have a Spine license and both of us will be working on the game code. Can we use Spine for this project? Are there any hoops to go through?

Each person using Spine needs a Spine license. If only one of you uses Spine, both of you can still work on the code.
