  • Pan on touchscreen not working

Hello!
So, I was trying to use Spine on Microsoft Surface tablet, but unfortunately, usual pan gesture (two touch drag) is not working. Moreover, using zoom gestrure on touchscreen breaks things completely - until I restart Spine I can't pan even with mouse
Is there any way to bypass any of these problems? Or any chance for this to be fixed/feature implemented in the future?
Would be great if I can make it work on tablet, since I often have to work in cramped spaces where I can't really use mouse like at all

Hello!

Using Spine on a touchscreen device like the Microsoft Surface can indeed present some challenges. Currently, Spine does not fully support multi-touch gestures such as two-finger panning. This limitation can cause issues when trying to use the software on a touchscreen device.

Here are a few suggestions to help mitigate these issues:

  1. Use Hotkeys for Panning and Zooming: You can use the keyboard shortcuts to pan and zoom. For example, holding the J key while dragging with a single touch or pen can help you pan the view. Similarly, you can use the U key along with dragging to zoom in and out.

  2. Disable Touch Gestures: If touch gestures are causing issues, you might want to disable them and rely on the pen and keyboard shortcuts for navigation.

  3. Check for Updates: Keep an eye on updates from Esoteric Software. They are aware of the limitations and have plans to improve the touchpad and touchscreen experience in future versions.

  4. Use a Pen: If possible, use a stylus or pen for more precise control. This can help avoid some of the issues caused by touch gestures.

  5. Restart Spine: If the zoom gesture breaks the panning functionality, restarting Spine can temporarily resolve the issue.

Unfortunately, there is no immediate fix for the lack of full multi-touch support, but these workarounds can help you continue working on your projects.

Unfortunately, as Spinebot replied, Spine does not support gestures for touchscreen devices, but it may be possible to edit hotkeys to make them easier to use. Some hotkeys are set by default and some are not, and some of the ones that are not set would probably be useful for touchscreen devices. You can open the hotkey configuration file from Hotkeys in the Application - Files section of Spine Settings, so please check it out.
