Ok this is definetively weird. I have the exact same version of unity. I just updated both Spine runetimes, and tk2d to their latest versions and the problem is still the same. I also sent this test project to a co-worker and he is having the exact same issue. I re-uploaded the project with the updated runtimes, you can find it at the following link:

I'm also attaching an image bellow to illustrate the bug. The scene is the same as before: "SpineBoy Mesh vertexCount bug.unity". Should be an empty scene with just the old spineboy.
Playing it as it is right now should make it crash. I'm truly at a loss as to why it's working for you....I can even upload a video if you want.
