  • Pleas let us skip Open Project dialogue window

Could we please get a setting option to skip the Open Project dialogue window before we get to the operating system dialogue window. It's not helpful for my way of working and only slows things down. Please let us get a way to go directly to the operating systems dialogue window if we want to.

Holding shift while clicking a button or menu item will skip the Spine dialog and open the system dialog. For example, the Open project item on the main menu or the folder button on the Spine window title bar.

Where there is both a star button and a folder button, the star button opens the Spine dialog and the folder button opens the system dialog.

ctrl+O opens the Spine open project dialog (hotkey name: Open Project). ctrl+shift+O opens the system dialog (hotkey name: Open Project (Browse)). You can modify your hotkeys to swap these or use other keys.

I know you don't prefer the Spine dialog, but here are some shortcuts it has:

  • spacebar or alt+B is equivalent to clicking Browse to open the system dialog. So, if you forget to hold shift and you see the dreaded Spine dialog, just press spacebar.
  • Type to search.
  • Press enter to open the first item shown in Files. Usually I type a couple characters and press enter to open the project I want.
  • Copy a file from the system file explorer and paste it on the Spine dialog to open that file.
  • Copy a folder from the system file explorer and paste it on the Spine dialog to open the system dialog at that folder.

Also, I use this a lot: Instead of clicking, you can drag this button:

It will show a list of recent projects:

These are great tips I'll be sure to make use of. But I still wouldn't mind a setting to disable the dialogue completely.
