1) Filter the tree to show only slots by clicking the slot filter button:

Your filter should look like:

Note when bones are hidden, the Draw order
node is gone because the slots shown are also the draw order.
Or alternatively you can show both bones and slots. The key thing is to not show attachments in the tree, this way when you select attachments in the viewport, their slot will be selected in the tree.
2) Disable bone selection (ctrl + shift + B
) so you don't accidentally box select bones.
3) Box select in the viewport and slots are selected in the tree. Note that you can't make a selection containing more than one attachment type, eg you can't select both a mesh and a region at the same time.
Note you can click to select an attachment of a type, then ctrl + box select will add to the selection only attachments of that type. This can also be useful to avoid box selecting bones even when you didn't disable bone selection (step 2 above).
4) After selecting slots, you can use -
or =
to move the slots up/down. Hold shift to jump by 5. This may be better than dragging, since you don't have to drag in the tree it is faster and you can select and move multiple slots that may not be next to each other in the draw order.
Instead of the above you could do the tedious work to manually select the slots, then add them to a selection group (ctrl+1
, ctrl+2
, etc then recall using 1
, 2
, etc). The downside is you can run out of selection groups.
