  • I can't actually import any files in the trial so I can't say for sure, but I would put my money on you having to re-do the JSON part again with the new layers and such in your PSD.

If that kind of confused you though just go through the process that I mentioned in my reply to your topic and crop the new image layer and save it out as a png file then add to that image folder in your project directory and everything should run smoothly, so you should have two options to go for, whichever you find easier would be the route I would take.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, I plan on purchasing Spine, just not yet, with Christmas coming up I don't have that kind of money to throw into a new piece of software. However I sincerely hope that my response clears something up for you at the least...

    Kind Regards,
    Patrick.

  • I think that I might be able to help you with that...

I can't save these projects that I start as I am still using the trial but, this is where the images folder is located for the example project: http://i.imgur.com/YUmAYDS.png So I assume that your project file will also have that images folder within the created directory.

Just navigate to that folder, place your 'cropped' and exported new eyes images in there and then go back to Spine and as you can see here, it updates, but it it doesn't just click the refresh button which is at the bottom of that part of the interface, just look down and you won't be able to miss it: http://i.imgur.com/D6WTcQ5.png

Once you have the images in there this is the part I think you were stuck with, to get the alternate eyes on the character, just navigate to the 'new' eyes that you just added to the images folder, then you can just click and drag it onto the slot that you want the eyes to be on: http://i.imgur.com/BSgVwT3.png and from there I assume you know how to check the visibility, but if you don't then it's the little white dot that I've got my mouse cursor hovering over, just check that for the eyes to see them and move into place.

Alternatively you could navigate to the image in the interface, select it, then you can see "set parent" at the bottom of the screen, like in this image: http://i.imgur.com/bx57ntF.png once you click that, you will need to click the bone to attach it to, in your instance you will need to select the 'head' bone, and it should pop up and ask if you want to add a 'new' slot or bind it to an existing one, just check the "eyes" slot and it should be added to that, but you may need to position them correctly.

I am not sure if the images folder will be locatable as they are for me right there, but they should in theory be in the folder created by you when you created a new project, that is the only thing that could be in question, everything else I have told you here should directly translate to solving your issue! I hope that this helps and its as step to step as I could make it, I hope the images assist you further. Most of all, hopefully I have answered the questions here for you lol. In any case, happy Spining!! 😛

    Kind Regards,
    Patrick

'pro' version on a nice sale over the "Black Friday" event 😛

    That would be nice 😃

I honestly didn't expect anything though to be honest 😛 but yes it would have been great!

  • I'm pretty new to this software and I have yet to buy any version, my plan is to test the software extensively and get to know it first as the price tag for Pro is a little high. However I was using the same method that you mentioned here, I just cannot export yet for the simple fact that I am using the trial still, so I haven't noticed the problem that you've run into here, although I did notice something after some time playing with the software which might be the solution for you...

There is a feature for 'Flipping' joints already... Here is an image of the over all interface so you know where I am at: http://i.imgur.com/LG8Zwjr.png Then look to the bottom right, once checked you can see the result here: http://i.imgur.com/mFWdCeN.png

I hope this helps you a little at least... I am still learning things myself, hopefully this works ok when exporting to Unity.

    Kind Regards,
    Patrick.

  • Very nice art style here!! Great work... It's simple but powerful. I think the game looks quite fun too 😛 Keep it up!

  • I'm in London, United Kingdom, but will very likely be moving to the United States some time around April of 2015 (if everything goes well) I am trying out Spine with the trial version and playing around with it as of right now, but I fully intend on purchasing some time soon, I'm partially just trying to learn the interface and everything while I am also waiting in hopes that I might see the 'pro' version on a nice sale over the "Black Friday" event 😛

I am primarily a 3d artist & animator but I am capable of Pixel Art and 2d animation as well... I used to do this kind of animation that Spine allows, but with Flash. I've not dabbled with it for some time, but so far I am enjoying my experience with Spine.

If there are any other Londoners around here, feel free to PM me 😃

  • I really like the art style of the knight that you have there, you should try getting the animations on those GIFs to repeat if you're wanting feedback it will be easier for people to view them and then provide the feedback.. Nice work so far.

    Patrick.

  • Awesome, I will likely sit in there daily, I love IRC and I leave it active when I'm at the computer... My IRC handle is 'ThePixelMonster'

  • It looks very interesting, I like the style from that video you've posted, although the main character reminds me a lot of that one from a children's show that I've seen on TV... I think that its called... Adventure Time?

Even so, nice work here! Keep it up 🙂

    Regards,
    Patrick.
