this automatic deactivation creates extra friction, as users have to manually re-enable Auto Key repeatedly.
It is unexpected that you would need to manually re-enable Auto Key. Auto Key is only temporarily inactive while both Adjust mode and a key selection are active. It should become active again automatically when you deselect the keys or turn off Adjust mode.
If the Auto Key button itself is actually being turned off and must be manually enabled again, that may be a bug. In that case, please let us know the exact steps needed to reproduce the behavior.
Would it be possible to consider adding a toggle option in the Settings / Preferences so that users can choose whether Auto Key automatically turns off when entering Adjust mode with keys selected?
Adding an option might sound like a good idea, but our policy is to provide what we believe to be the best course of action, and we believe that leaving that decision up to the user by adding an option would be an abdication of our responsibility. Rather than offering a multitude of options that might confuse beginners—leaving them wondering what each one is for—we believe it’s better to provide a consistent user experience that users can understand and accept.
For these reasons, we do not currently plan to add an option for this behavior. However, if Auto Key does not automatically become active again after the keys are deselected or Adjust mode is turned off, please let us know, as that would not be the intended behavior.
